The Hunter Novel is a gripping sci-fi mystery inspired by my life in Karachi.—a city defined by resilience and survival. It captures a time when Karachiites lived by the mantra: “We leave in the morning, not knowing if we’ll return at night.”
This novel blends the chaos of the city with a near-future sci-fi setting. It follows a university student navigating his tumultuous life, a police officer confronting the city’s unrelenting madness, and a community walking on eggshells in a politically and ethnically charged environment. Amid this fragile peace, a monstrous threat emerges, throwing their world into turmoil.
Story Inspiration Behind The Hunter Novel
The story of The Hunter lived in my mind for years before I finally penned it down during NaNoWriMo 2015 (National Novel Writing Month). It was during this challenge that I achieved the incredible feat of writing 50,000 words in November, completing the novel by January 2016. This experience proved to me that no goal is insurmountable with the right focus and determination.

Self-publishing The Hunter Novel on Amazon Kindle was a deliberate choice after exploring the realities of Karachi’s publishing industry. My startup, ReadUp, an online ebook marketplace I founded in 2017, gave me firsthand insights into the challenges faced by authors.
In Karachi, traditional publishing is often little more than glorified printing. Most authors face hefty charges, receive no royalties, and are sometimes robbed of publishing rights entirely. For these reasons, I chose to take control of my work and share it directly with readers around the world.
